Biography

Streetside Philosophy is a music project based out of Southern Oregon. It was founded by music producer and engineer John Spivey. The majority of the musical compositions in Streetside Philosophy’s catalog began in 2009 and concluded in 2024. John’s wife Michelle began creating the artwork for Streetside Philosophy in 2020 to create an interconnected world designed around the musical content. All of Streetside’s content was painstakingly arranged and designed per release in advance to paint a cohesive storyline across the entirety of the material. August 17th, 2024, Streetside Philosophy released its first album titled Fools Gold. May 12th, 2025 they released their second album titled Cliffhanger.

A unique aspect of Streetside Philosophy’s music is that it only includes live instrument recordings that have been captured with high quality acoustic and analog instruments and state of the art analog equipment at hi-resolution quality (96 kHz 24 Bit) by John. No virtual software instruments, downloaded pre-recorded samples, or AI was used in the production of Streetside Philosophy’s catalog. Naturalness has always been an important element for this project to retain in order to capture the organic feel of the compositions. Alongside Streetside Philosophy, John is also the lead singer for the band EaselMouth, and operates the music post production company Unpunished Music LLC. Streetside Philosophy is a project designed to be for anyone interested in listening to unconventional music, enjoying intricate artwork, getting involved in immersive world designs, and digging into different philosophical ideas.
